General Warehouse Clerk

THE ROLE

DALS Lighting has an excellent career opportunity as a Warehouse Clerk, responsible for large surface customers. The candidate will be part of a team dedicated to providing outstanding shipping service for its customers. The role encompasses receiving, warehouse management, and shipping of DALS branded products, as well as products destined for warehouse stores. The candidate must be a team player, energetic and have a strong desire to work well and efficiently. He/she must also share our values and demonstrate a commitment to the DALS team. The team is growing and the chosen candidate will evolve in a constantly changing environment.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

    1. RECEPTION
      • Receive/unload trucks/containers of goods and sort products by code/size/ color.

      • Ensure accuracy of orders received and complete receiving documents.

      • Place the products in the warehouse.

      • Identify products received and update information systems.

    2. ORDER PREPARATION
      • Pick up and place products on pallets according to orders received.

      • Enter stock information into the customer’s order management system.

      • Verify prepared orders to ensure accuracy.

      • Complete internal shipping documents and provide them to the billing department.

    3. EXPEDITION
      • Load the trucks.

      • Prepare shipping documents.

      • Maintain shipping service levels during daily and weekly rotations and during peak orders.

      • Coordinate with the shipping department to schedule product shipments to customers.

    4. WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT / MAINTENANCE
      • Move products to optimize picking efficiency and maximize space utilization.

      • Rotate stock between receiving/buffer and storage areas.

      • Follow health/safety rules.

      • Maintain loading and storage area (with team).

      • Perform weekly product inventory.

      • Identify and document damaged products.

      • Suggest improvements to reduce the error rate and/or increase the efficiency of the team

      • Be a team player, and participate in the development of solutions to daily challenges

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

  • BY 6 MONTHS…

    You have successfully integrated the receiving/shipping team. You are familiar with the various products manufactured by Dals. You are familiar with the specifics of managing the storage of our products. Shipping documents and computer systems are kept up to date and you have developed relationships with departments to ensure effective communication.

  • BY 12 MONTHS…

    You now master all the components related to the reception and shipping of products at DALS. You are able to properly evaluate the requests presented to you and provide information related to preparation and shipping times. You participate in the updating of product inventories and are able to navigate the various computer systems related to the position. You follow up proactively and effectively with the DALS teams and your teamwork is recognized. You are one of the resources recognized at DALS as being key in meeting and improving our commitments to our large-scale customers.

QUALIFICATIONS & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Forklift driver;

  • Bilingual: French / English (oral and written) an asset

  • Basic computer skills: Excel, Word, Gmail etc.

  • Comfortable with computer systems

  • 2 years experience in a warehouse clerk position
